Golf in the Highlands

As a golf course in the Highlands, we are aware that many golfers will want to construct their own tour of some of the scenic areas of Scotland.

There is an enormous range of courses, from championship tracks like Royal Dornoch to very small venues tucked in glens and behind lochs such as Lochcarron or Ullapool and almost all of them have huge character and you can be guaranteed the warmest of welcomes from the members who keep them alive.

Two essential books for the task are Robin Down’s Golf in the Wild golfinthewild.org.uk and Derek McAdam’s The Nine Holer Guide - and not just because Traigh features on the cover of both of them! Andrew Greig’s Preferred Lies is a wonderful and emotional tour of Scottish golf as is Michael Konik’s In Search of Burningbush (though it was a pity the weather was so wet when the latter reached Traigh).
